Scrobble With
Mirrors another Last.fm user's listening onto your own profile, live. Point it at a friend, a UK radio station or any Icecast stream and every track they play gets scrobbled to you for as long as you choose.
Mirroring someone else's listening
Pick a Last.fm user — a friend, a tastemaker, a radio station — and while the mirror runs, everything they scrobble is scrobbled to your profile too. There is no playing along at home: your Last.fm simply reflects what they are listening to, and your "now playing" follows their current track.
Last.fm is the login, so there is no separate account to make. Roughly once a minute it checks what the source has played and scrobbles anything new inside the window.
The awkward cases
Most of the work is in the edges rather than the happy path:
- Radio stations as a source, not just users — BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music, Capital, Heart, Kiss, Smooth, Radio X, Classic FM, or any Icecast or Shoutcast URL pasted in
- Backfilling a session that already happened, backdated anywhere inside Last.fm's 14-day scrobble window
- A trailing buffer, so plays that Last.fm publishes a little late still get counted rather than silently dropped
- Several mirrors at once — two stations, a friend and a chart — with a cap, and no mirroring the same source twice
- A Spotify sync monitor that watches whether your own plays are still reaching Last.fm and tells you when that connection quietly lapses
Mirrors run from an hour up to a week, can be extended or stopped at any point, and warn you before one ends.
Part of VCurl
Scrobble With is a module of VCurl rather than a standalone app, so it inherits the platform's tenancy, custom domains and API rather than reimplementing them.
